Benchmarks & ScrimmagesAfter students have practiced a skill, they will take a short 4 question quiz called a benchmark. If they receive at least a 3 out of 4 on the benchmark, they will receive a sticker on our classroom benchmark chart. Students will have the opportunity to take a benchmark as many times as needed in order to pass it. We will spend about 30 minutes each day in guided math. Students will work on math games with a partner based on their needs. I will work with small groups during this time to re-teach skills for students that need a bit more time to practice.
Many times during the year, we will combine skills we have learned from our benchmarks into a scrimmage. The scrimmage will serve as a review to be sure we have retained the skills we have learned. Scrimmages may only be taken once. A 75% or higher will earn a sticker on our benchmark chart. |
Fact FluencyEvery day will take a quick one-minute test on math facts. The fact fluency test is 25 problems focusing on one addend (+0, +1, +2, etc.). Students will take each quiz two times. Once the quizzes are passed two times, students will earn a sticker on our fact fluency chart and will move on to the next addend. Help your child gain their fact fluency at home.
